Our Day

The Toddler children have the opportunity to play at their own pace and are encouraged to explore both indoors and outdoors. At the beginning of the year the group uses the side yard more to build connections with their teachers, this also allows the group to provide a indoor/outdoor program. Once the group is feeling more confident we then start to use the backyard more. The experiences and play equipment set up in the yard is also age appropriate for this age group . Toddler children separate from the other children is during their lunch and rest time routines.


Mini Kinder Funded Program & Long Day Care

  • 3 to 4 year olds

  • A maximum of 17 children attend each day

Our Day

The Mini Kinder group start their day by spending the morning playing and exploring The House (the central hub of our building) and the backyard. 

At 9am the Mini Kinder children go into their morning kinder session as a group for a focused learning time. During this time the children have the opportunity to engage in an interest based program specifically set up for them by their trained educators along with becoming familiar with the Kinder environment. This Mini Kinder time finishes at 2 pm when the children join the Toddler and Kinder children outside and in The House.

SESSIONAL KINDER Requirements

The Government acknowledges the importance of children having the opportunity to have 5-15 hours with a qualified Early Childhood Teacher. The sessions runs between the hours of 9am and 2pm, these sessions are available for children who are enrolled for at least 1 long day of care per week at Co-op.

Children who attend Ivanhoe Children’s Community Co-operative as their funded Kinder will recieve funding from the government dependent on how many hours they attend the kinder

Our Day

Ivanhoe Co-op’s 4-6 year old Kindergarten Program is an interest based, child directed and teacher framed approach to early childhood education.

The focus is on achieving holistic and meaningful learning through the support and encouragement of children’s existing dispositions to learn.

The Kindergarten program aims to scaffold children’s emerging and changing knowledge and understanding of the world around them through playful exploration and positive interactions.

The program’s dynamic and emergent approach means its’ physical and thematic environment is constantly evolving.

By supporting and celebrating children’s in-built capacity to explore and learn, the Co-op Kindergarten experience lays the foundations for a successful and enjoyable life long learning journey.

SESSIONAL KINDER Requirements

The Government acknowledges the importance of children having the opportunity to have 15 hours with a qualified Early Childhood Teacher the year before they start school. To access these hours, your child is able to attend Co-op between the hours of 7:30am to 1:30pm.  These sessions are available for children who are enrolled for at least 2 long days of care per week at Co-op.

These sessions are charged at half the normal daily fee and is eligible for CCS fee assistance.
